Completed in late 2019 this project began as surrey farmhouse and underwent an18 month renovation and extension design & coordinated by Architect Stuart Martin.  Owl were engaged directly by the client, who also commissioned various designers and artists to create bespoke elements for the house.  We worked closely with all the designers to coordinate layers of lighting integrated within the structure and highlighting the decorative elements. 

One major element was the bespoke feature light in the double height space.  We searched for the right piece for nearly a year and when we finally sourced this piece, we commissioned one specifically the space.  It is very light both in weight & in appearance and fits the space perfectly.

The double height space opens out to a smaller sitting area, kitchen/dining room and a first floor gallery - we specified a crestron control system to control the scenes.

 

Gallery

  • Bespoke feature light within double height gallery room

    The bespoke feature light allows light is light enough to allow views through and the shapes within echo traditional table lamps with a nod to the tradition of the space.

  • Cinema & shelf lighting

    Dimmable shelf lighting in high CRI softly lights the walls in the basement cinema room. The lighting extends into a hidden door within the shelves.

  • Gold pendant light

    Pendants from Catellani Smith with gold interior warms up the basement area.

  • Arched corridor wall lights

    Salpertini wall lights from Porta Romana fit very well in the small space and accentuate the curve of the corridor and light over the recessed seating area provides a small area to rest.

  • soft uplight and backlit stained glass

    Small uplights draw the eye to the end wall with commissioned backlit stained glass panels.

  • Dining room

    The dining area is lit with layers of light - uplights to the beams and window recess, soft lighting with the glass cupboards, task ceiling light and the focal point - a seed cloud feature light from Ochre.
