This was a wonderful project that drew on Artisans of Devizes’ full range of natural stone craftsmanship. One of the most fascinating elements of this prestigious development of a brand new, neo-classical mansion in Gloucestershire, was a bespoke floor scheme, based on a design spotted by the client whilst on holiday in Scotland.
Tony Salmon, of Yiangou Architects was determined to faithfully recreate the complex pattern of interlocking lozenges and squares at Mount Stewart and commissioned Artisans of Devizes to carry out the complex, bespoke stonework. We used our Bath Limestone with a special lightly aged finish and Mandale Fossil for the grey inset pieces.
Working to schemes originated by Annabel Elliot interior design and Yiangou, we also cut a range of stones for the drawing room, garden room, swimming pool, sauna, gymnasium, changing rooms and cloister, including reclaimed cladding sourced by the architects, a Bath Limestone was specially chosen for the staircase to match the flooring.
