Sector: Residential
Featured product: Hollington Extra Wide Plank
The Green House, a mid-terrace Victorian property in Islington, London, was transformed into a modern family home by Foster J Architects. The project included a deep retrofit with a focus on biophilic design and sustainable materials. Key elements included adding a second floor, creating a naturally ventilated kitchen-diner, and using locally sourced, recyclable timber flooring from Ted Todd.
The renovation emphasized a ‘fabric-first’ approach, retaining the original Victorian facades while adding modern extensions. Hollington Wide Plank flooring from Ted Todd's Classic Tones colelction was chosen for its environmental credentials and aesthetic appeal, contributing to the project's sustainable identity.
The outcome is a stylish, energy-efficient home with enhanced comfort and performance. The design incorporates natural light, exposed materials, and vibrant accents, creating a cohesive and welcoming environment. The project demonstrates how thoughtful design and sustainable practices can modernize a historic property while preserving its character.
