The Brick Tile Company project
Brick Slip Fireplace Makeover
This fireplace used to be a small filled-in chimney breast. The customer wanted to transform it from a bit of an annoying section of wall, into the central design feature in the room, and boy did they do that.
They wanted the texture and variation of our reclaimed collection of brick slips, and also something nice and light. It was clear that blend 10 brick slips were the ones for them, with a cream base, and white and black variants. They decided to not only use white pointing mortar, but to also apply it flush, exposing more of the mortar than normal, and therefore giving a whiter finish.
The hearth and chamber were completed in a herringbone pattern to give an extra touch, with corner tiles used horizontally across the front of the hearth step to complete the look.
